Greetings, dear friends. The last week of our Dry January Collaborative Learning Series at the Fayetteville Public Library is tomorrow, January 31 at 2pm in the Ann Henry Boardroom.
We will be reading an excerpt from Dr. Nzinga Harrison’s book Unaddiction. She discusses what the data tells us about the nature vs nurture debate. Are we born destined to be addicted, or do our life circumstances and choices create our outcomes? We will also discuss ACEs, or adverse childhood experiences and their affect on our likelihood to develop an addiction.
If you’re not able to join us, you can check out the slideshow here.
Talking about ACEs can be massively triggering, and I invite folks to take the assessment with their therapist, trusted friend, or in an environment where they feel safe and able to self-regulate easily. To view the ACEs assessment, click here.
May you be happy and free, dear reader.
